Kilbirnie village benefits from a two nurseries, two primary schools and a secondary school. There is also a local toddler group here.
Kilbirnie is a small town of around 8500 people
situated in North Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland. Historically
the town built up around the flax and weaving industries before iron
and steelmaking took over in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. The
local steelworks closed in 1979 dealing a major blow to the towns
economy, and a large number of the local retailers closed soon after.
Now however Kilbirnie is finding itself a commuter town, a number of
private housing estates are appearing and the town itself is optimistic
of a brighter future. We also have a Healthy Living Centre called Radio City, and Tesco have built a new supermarket in the town centre. We expect these projects to bring renewed life to the town and community.
Kilbirnie is only 20-30 minutes drive from Glasgow.
